Lewis’s law is an observation she made in 2012 that states “the comments on any article about feminism justify feminism.” Lewis has written frequently about misogynist hate directed at women online.[8]

Can we just repeat that a few more times,

“The comments on any article about feminism justify feminism.”

“The comments on any article about feminism justify feminism.”

that law is accurate

It’s sad that my own gender makes me hate them sometimes. <: (

True shit
A review by one of the folks sums it up perfectly:
“What worries me about Yahoo! buying Tumblr is how it would choose to incorporate the website into its email and homepage features. One of the reasons why Tumblr is so unique is because it’s a niche market. By adding more users who don’t fit into this niche, it would make it more difficult for communities to develop within Tumblr, and Tumblr would have to change to accommodate these new users. Tumblr as a website is not the kind that you can sign up for in a day and be on your way. It is a website crafted so that you can immediately post but must spend several weeks, sometimes even months, to build a community. With new users who would not be willing to spend time growing a community, Tumblr would have to be changed, which would alienate its current users. Those users have spent time and effort to make Tumblr what it is today, and they are the ones who spend time on the website daily. A user who is checking onto Tumblr because it’s attached to their homepage is not going to be as strong of a user nor as dedicated. By changing the website to suit this new user, you would lose the strong users while building an undedicated usership.
To any website that would think of buying Tumblr, they must understand that it is a website that cannot be changed to make it more user friendly to a casual blogger. I think that many Tumblr users would be less worried about a buy-out if they were promised that their communities and ways of using Tumblr would not be changed. No one is going to mind Yahoo! buying the website and gaining a few extra million dollars per year from the minimal advertising; what we will be upset with is if a company like Yahoo! then changes the website to increase casual users and decrease dedicated users. Yahoo! would gain nothing by losing this “cool” group of bloggers in an age group they so desperately want to reach, so they must cater to these individuals by leaving the website exactly as is.” - houseoftombombadil
As much as is does sound like a load of bullshit for someone to buy Tumblr, it’s a possibility. I Personally think it should stay independent and I hope David Karp keeps a hold of it like his own child. Or we make enough noise to where such major changes (if bought) will not happen. I would hate to see Tumblr turned into an advertising dump.

We’re not a ‘hip fad group’ to be marketed to. I hate the fact that’s all we look like to businesses in the end.

im laughing because every single comment on that article says its a terrible idea. not one person agrees and that’s saying something

Slow clap for the hypocrites.

Look, I like eating hamburgers and bacon and all kinds of meat. I’m a carnivore, AND I am still against cruelty to animals. I am not a hypocrite. All animals, including those that are being raised to be killed, sold, and eaten, should be treated well. I agree that they shouldn’t be boxed up in tiny pens. I agree that they shouldn’t be treated like shit. They should be allowed to run around and enjoy the weather, eat healthily, and socialize. They should be in a safe and pleasant environment. I too get upset when I see pictures of slaughter animals being forced in small enclosures or beaten. That shouldn’t happen, and I acknowledge this, and anything that can be done to help their situation should be taken. However, I don’t feel guilty for enjoying a hamburger, or a hotdog, or anything made of meat. I still love animals, and some I also like eating. That doesn’t mean I like seeing them be abused.

I think this wasn’t posted to make someone feeling guilty, or it least I didn’t post this to do so.I’m not a vegan either, even if I don’t care much about meat. I prefer vegetarian food. But that’s not the point.The point is that it really bugs me how so many people cry over cute and fluffy animals getting skinned for pelt, while almost nobody asks themselves where leather comes from.I’m tired of those people which post those cruel pictures of abused dogs, cats, foxes and dolphins on my timeline, shouting out for animal rights, while ignoring the fact that not so cute animals die for meat every day =/I have a classmate who didn’t even know anything about factory farming. She even was surprised that we’re still do animal testing and what that means.This makes me sad and I just don’t understand how someone can close their eyes from all that the whole life.I’ve never been a missioner and I don’t want to be one, I just want to make people think about what happens out there.

Ah, okay. I understand. That’s a very valid point, and I agree. It’s sad that cute animals are stood up for, but the “lesser” animals are just left to their own, even rallied against in some cases. I really hope I didn’t seem like I was trying to attack you Cayleth, because I promise I wasn’t, and if it seemed that way, I am very sorry. ^^;

Whenever I got overly upset about the bullying I got at school, I would scream and throw things. To try and stop that, my mother encouraged my school to threaten me with calling my father, who would hit me for “misbehaving”.
